Field Trips
Cedar Valley Rocks & Minerals Society schedules field trips during the warm months. Trips have been organized to collect geodes, agates, minerals and fossils. The club has collected in quarries and pay-to-collect locations. All sites that are not pay-to-collect require permission. Field trips are restricted to club members and require a waiver. Most quarries require a site waiver.
In 2009, several members traveled to Arkansas to collect quartz crystals and search for diamonds. Joint field trips with the Mid America Paleontolgy Society (MAPS) are occasionally scheduled.
In the colder months the club sometimes schedules indoor field trips to museums or members' homes.
